9 16@Plover is a beautiful set of self-catering studios in Swakopmund. After relocating to Swakopmund, the owners desired a new one-bedroom house which would feature 2 adjacent self-catering studios. Whilst one of the studios could be joined via an internal door to the main house for private guests, the owners thought it best not to compromise their own privacy when rooms are let out to guests. This was overcome by ensuring that the living areas in the main house and bedroom open up towards the northern side, and by placing the studios at an angle at the front of the property on the southern side. The main house consists of, an open plan living/kitchen/dining area with an adjacent sculler/laundry leading to the double garage; A guest toilet is discreetly placed around a corner as well. As both the owners work from home, 2 workspaces were carved out of the main living area, both being part of the open plan, whilst also providing some much needed privacy when working. desIgn Namibia December 2015/January 2016
