For this living space in a sprawling country house on 10 acres , the goal was to provide a haven for both large and small families , embracing the tranquility of the countryside .
The living room , serving as a central hub connecting to a bar area and country kitchen , aimed for a relaxed yet sophisticated ambiance , inspired by the natural beauty of the landscape . Expansive doors and a strategically placed fireplace enhanced the views and created a cozy atmosphere during colder months .
Lighting played a crucial role , with a general scheme of pot lights for ambient illumination and targeted lighting in the bar area . Decisions , such as opting for
a vented gas fireplace , reflected the ongoing struggle between functionality and aesthetics , addressing safety and structural considerations .
Sustainable design principles guided material choices , including recycled stone , low VOC paints , and engineered hardwood floors . The heating and cooling systems incorporated ecofriendly considerations and featured two heat pumps .
A collaborative process involving various professionals brought the vision to life , fostering problem-solving and ensuring the successful realization of the design . The result is a living space seamlessly blending into the serene beauty of the countryside .
