Once standing as a testament to the architectural trends of the 1990s , the residence loomed with angled walls , built-in niches , and glass block relics , rendering it a cavernous and dated space . The aura of disconnectedness permeated every corner , prompting a thoughtful renovation with a set of ambitious goals : to foster better flow , usher in natural light , embrace an open concept , and infuse a modern yet cozy vibe .
The transformation began by stripping away the angular walls on the main floor and introducing a sturdy steel beam to liberate the kitchen and family room . The rear of the house opened up , inviting additional glazing to connect seamlessly with the backyard . The stairs , a relic of the past , were reconfigured for optimal use of space .
The heart of the home , the kitchen , underwent a metamorphosis . Large glass sliding doors ushered in light , creating a link between the kitchen , family room , and the outdoors . The design centered around symmetry , featuring a prominent stove flanked by tall anchors , connected by a beautiful wood frame . A coffee station , hidden behind piano-hinged doors , added a touch of practical elegance . Neutral tones dominated the kitchen , with white oak and soft gray providing a canvas for the exquisite quartzite countertop and backsplash . The main wall boasted a custom-designed hood with wooden slats , a striking focal point . A single , sleek modern light fixture illuminated the space , creating an illusion of expansiveness .
