This space is both cozy and chic. Its textures add interest and
the various finishes add some formality to the room.
CANADIAN HOME TRENDS CAN YOU
TELL US ABOUT THE DESIGN?
HABITAT DECOR The homeowners were
looking for a warm, inviting area for their
home. The design focused around the sofa
that the homeowners fell in love with. The
old English arm chair was a hint of the old
world charm that they loved so much.
CHT CAN YOU TELL US A LITTLE BIT
ABOUT THE HOMEOWNERS?
HD The homeowners are a lovely family
of three in Bowmanville. Both parents are
professionals who really wanted a space
that would make them forget the stresses of
their day. Because they have two dogs, they
wanted luxury and function. Easy to care
for carpet, no glass surfaces to wipe, and
serviceable fabrics all add to the easy care of
the room.
CHT WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE DESIGN
ELEMENT IN THIS SPACE?
HD Our favorite design element would have
to be the fabulous feature wall. The soaring
sixteen foot vaulted ceilings were accented
by beautifully textured grasscloth and French
themed art. It really pulls the space together
and brings your eyes up to the loft seating
area above.
CHT WHAT IS A COMMON DESIGN
MISTAKE?
HD The biggest design mistake that people
make is packing the room full of stuff.
Oversized furniture jammed into a small
room does not necessarily give you more
seating. It’s just more stuff. Add coffee tables,
side tables, bookcases and accessories, and
there is barely enough space in the room for
people! - Habitat Decor, www.habitatdecor.ca
