Creative planning can take an outdoor space and turn it into a functional , stylish living area you ’ ll love ! For this project , we had a few things to work towards . The homeowners specifically requested a sunken living area and pergola along with a privacy wall . They also wanted unique inlays for added style . With some creative planning , the final space is a dream come true .
To create a strong foundation for the project , we started with Helix Screw Piles topped with pressure treated wood beams and joists . This was covered with G-tape , a water proofing membrane that adds extra life to the treated wood by sealing all fasteners that penetrate into the wood , helping to keep water away from the wood .
For a low-maintenance finish , we selected an Azek PVC Decking Board in Coast Line with Island Oak Borders . We created a unique design at each end of the deck and an inlay with a Herringbone design for one section . Even the stairs were given a designer touch with boards going in alternating directions and integrated lighting for additional safety .
