The uppermost floor includes two bedrooms , one of which doubles as Wendy ’ s office . The master bathroom was reconfigured completely . It now includes a wet room , complete with a freestanding tub . Says Ami , “ The tub was so heavy , we had to remove the window in the bedroom to have it brought in .
Two more bedrooms are located on the lowermost floor , which was specifically designed for the couple ’ s two boys . The level also features black millwork , a pool table , a hockey room , a bar , and a wine room — the latter of which was a reconstituted root cellar .
Wendy notes that they saved on the wine room and the dining table by opting for reclaimed wood . They splurged on the tub in the master ensuite , the lighting fixture in the dining room , and the fireplace on the main floor .
Though the renovation spanned years , Wendy couldn ’ t be happier with the way it turned out , “ I just sit here sometimes and look down the length of the house , where all the walls are gone . It ’ s this beautiful warm , open space , and I feel like indoors and outdoors becomes one . It ’ s very grounding .”
