Independence Day celebration a huge success

The annual 4th of July celebrations and fireworks were held last
Friday, and in spite of the change
of date, the crowds still came and
had a great time. The event started
at 5 p.m. with everyone gathered
around the north side of the pavilion where all the food and drinks
were set up. The Rotary had hot
dogs and nachos, Operation Hero
Comfort had sodas and water, and
Love’s were selling corn on the cob
to raise money for the Children’s
Miracle Network, a charity that
they sponsor every year. Richard
Oldham donated free watermelon
again this year.
There were also lots of great
activities for the kids (and some
adults). The Quartzsite Youth
Council helped setting up the
games and the dunk tank, and the
kids had a blast. They also provided free glow sticks for the children.
