The artist: The art of Philip Evergood varied from the many inspirations that he had. In 1923 he studied at the Art students league. Which taught him the true definition of art and lead him through the social aspects of it. For Philip art was a form of social protest, in which he used throughout hiw artworks during the great depression.

This art piece: This piece has a very dark and shady mood, which helps to convey the message of the whole artwork. In the title itself it is telling us that these people are farmers and it seems that they aren't very happy, they are going through a struggle that was caused by the economic downfall and the environmental disasters that ocurred which destroyed the careers of farmers. This was a great way to depict the emotions that farmers where going through. Through the struggle they will still be together could be a great message too.
