The artist: Sheldon's work was first started when he was hired by the FSA to help document the events that were transpiring in the nation. Since he was born into a wealthy family he had the liberty to proivde funding in order to create independence in his photography, which did go against the meaning of by which he was hired which was to show that the town that they were at was a coal town.

This art piece: During these times it was very difficult to get a money or even to keep your job. Many went on strike or even protested, and as we can see in this photograph these people were workers who went on strike so that other people would replace them. The setting in which we see these people is not very good, and the people involved to seem very enthusiastic about what they are doing in order to pursue their american dream.
