Members of the TWU Admissions Office were on hand at the Pioneer Promise announcement to share enrollment information with members of the Class of 2016– the first class that will be eligible for automatic admission. To be accepted into program, students in that graduating top 30 percent need to apply to TWU and submit SAT or ACT scores. pon admission, first year students will have access to financial aid and other scholarship opportunities. One of the scholarships available to incoming students is the Honors Scholars program. This scholarship is worth $5,500 and is automatically renewable for up to four years or the receipt of a bachelor’s degree, as long as a minimum, cumulative GPA of 3.0 is maintained. Another is the scholarship program offered through the Terry Foundation which provides sufficient assistance to cover tuition, books, fees, and reasonable living expenses on campus. This scholarship takes into account any other scholarships the student may receive and family contributions, with stipend amounts varying based upon those calculations. Pioneer Promise will not only benefit those graduates, but current Denton ISD high school students as well. As part of the program TWU will provide college readiness workshops to 46 district students, including information on dual credit/Advanced Placement programs, financial aid and scholarships. The university also is assigning an admissions counselor to serve as an official liaison between Denton ISD’s high schools and TWU. In addition, TWU will provide Texas Success Initiative assessment testing at each Denton ISD high school and at the LaGrone Advanced Technology Complex at least once during the spring semester. “We’re very excited about this program and what it will mean to not just our students or TWU, but this community,” Dr. Wilson said. “There are so many positive and exciting thngs happening here that people around the country are learning what many of us have known for years – Denton is a great place to live, work and get an education.” For more information, visit www.twu.edu/admissions
