Denton Public School Foundation awards more than $ 77,000 in scholarships , grants to teachers and staff
Over $ 77,000 in scholarship and grant money was recently awarded to 103 Denton ISD teachers and staff members by the Denton Public School Foundation in partnership with district , local businesses and community leaders .
The funds are being utilized by teachers to enhance classroom instruction and for staff development , said Jackie Jackson , executive director of the Foundation . Since its inception in 1995 , the Foundation has awarded more than $ 2.5 million in grants and scholarships to teachers and staff , as well as more than $ 600,000 in student scholarships .
The recipients will be honored at a special reception with the Denton ISD Board of Trustees at 4:45 p . m ., Tuesday , Feb . 9 , at the Stephens Central Administration Building located at 1307 N . Locust Street .
