District looks to continue to grow,
learn and thrive
Teachers are critical to the success of our students. But it’s the innovative ideas and
creative aspects that each one of our classroom instructors incorporate into their lesson
plans, assignments and projects that truly guides our students on that path to success.

The work that teachers diligently put in throughout the year to help every child design a
plan to not only be successful in the classroom, but to build the essential skills necessary
to “be what they want when they grow up” is nothing short of amazing.
We want to keep this everyday momentum going by providing our students and teachers
the best possible conditions to learn, grow and thrive. As the district has continued to
grow over the past decade, we’ve been able to keep up with the demand for innovative
and creative spaces where our students can continue to learn to be amazing.
On May 5, we’re asking our community members to consider a bond package that would
allow us to continue to keep up with the influx of families moving into the Denton area
as well as upgrade, update and renovate many of our existing schools in the district.
Representatives from your communities – 56 total – studied and analyzed the current
state of facilities in our district and made a recommendation to our Board of Trustees to
call for this bond election.
You, the voters in the 17 communities we serve, will determine whether the recommended
$750.5 million package moves forward. And while I admit that the amount is large,
it includes more than 100 projects across all our campuses and addresses growth,
renovations, career and technical education projects and safety and infrastructure.
I’m proud to say that our Trustees have made the commitment to ensure that there will be
no tax rate increase as a result of the bond election on May 5. Our tax rate has been $1.54
per $100 assessed valuation for the past four years and will stay the same.
You can read about growth in the Denton area, learn how a Denton High graduate ended
up at the Olympics, and about two current students who are chasing their collegiate
dreams through our FFA and AFJROTC programs.
I’m always amazed at what our students accomplish each day and aim for in their future
