Join GIPS....
We want you if:
•you have grandchildren
and they attend Denton ISD.
•you aren’t a grandparent,
but you are older and
understand the value
of good schools for
succeeding generations
and the community.
•your grandchildren
don’t live in Denton
ISD ...but you support
public education and you
understand the need.
A
t Denton ISD, we are well aware of the
special bond that children should have
with their grandparents. While moms and
dads are the main examples in a child’s
life, his or her grandparents can have a
profound effect on a child’s viewpoints.
Grandparents are extraordinary people.
They have stories to tell that expand our
horizons and views of life formed through
years of experience that we cannot begin
to fathom. We feel lucky to benefit from
this, and our grandparents tell us they
feel privileged to be able to share these
experiences with our students. Overall,
grandparents are a great resource for us,
and they make a difference.

Grandparents in Public Schools (GIPS)
initiative. Opportunities to mentor our young
people exist at all 38 campuses.
A key factor that can determine the
success or lack of success of children
in our schools is the degree to which
parents and/or grandparents are actively
involved in the education of their children
or grandchildren. You can have a huge
impact on a student’s education today.
