“If you touch
one life, you’ve
done your job.”
•Eleshia Crotwell,
Guyer teacher
where the stars dine. It was truly an
amazing experience.
One of the main people who inspired
me in NY was my vocal coach Michael
McElroy. He is the director at the New
School Theatre Program in NY and
performed in the musical Rent for
five years and played in many other
Broadway shows. He definitely opened up
another piece of the acting world to me,
helping me bring my own experiences
out to share with audiences. It changed
how I approach performing, giving me
a way to share my story through other
character’s actions.
Who inspires you? My high school director,
Eleshia Crotwell has always been a huge
inspiration to me. She welcomed me
into the department with open arms
and immediately we enjoyed working
together. She always pushed me to be the
best actor and person I could be.

Something she said that I will carry through
my acting career is “If you touch one life,
you’ve done your job.” We should always
try to touch people with our artwork but
also touch them by just being generous
and kind to others around us. She also
taught me real dedication. If you want to
make it big in this field of work then you
have to fully engage yourself in everything
you do.
What now? Katelyn is living in Denton and
auditioning for roles in a variety of shows in
the Dallas-Fort Worth area. She is currently
saving money so that she can attend
school in New York or Los Angeles next
year to further her training.
