Denton County Living Well Magazine January/February 2016 | Page 6

FROM THE PUBLISHER DENTON COUNTY President & CEO Sam Houston Vice president & CFO Spring Houston Consummate Professionals JennieJamesPhotography.com A bout a year ago, one of the things we had planned for LIVING WELL Magazine was to increase publication from four quarterly issues a year. Fast-forward 12 months, and you’re holding the first bi-monthly issue of the magazine. Going forward, look for LIVING WELL every other month in your mailbox, at targeted locations throughout the area, and online. It’s always rewarding when a plan or resolution comes together and you see it all the way through to fruition. But it’s important to recognize that a goal is only one piece of the larger puzzle. As we move forward into 2016, we can’t rest on the fact that we actually made it happen and that we reached our goal; we need to set our sights on making it better. With that in mind, look for enhanced coverage of health and wellness issues, as well as a wealth of legal matters that mature adults face. Written by top professionals in their fields, their articles give you tools to live a healthy, fulfilling life. One such professional is Dr. Tanveer A. Qureshi who’s featured on this issue’s cover. Dr. Qureshi began serving our community in 1978. He was the first interventional cardiologist in Denton County and co-founded the cardiology program at Denton Regional Medical Center, serving as the Cardiac Catheterization Lab Director for over 25 years; he currently serves in that role at Medical Center of Lewisville and Presbyterian Hospital Denton. Dr. Qureshi believes that the best physicians maintain a progressive approach to medicine while working to take care of all the patients needs in a holistic manner. Plus, don’t miss the feature on Johnny Depp. After more than three decades in Hollywood, 52-year-old Depp is one of the entertainment industry’s biggest stars. His success and longevity in Hollywood is due to not only his enormous talent, but also because he’s taken many career risks with oddball and oftentimes even downright dark roles. One such role is that of gangster Whitey Bulger in the film Black Mass, which has garnered a lot of Oscar buzz.
