There are innumerable opportunities for
Dental Sleep Medicine educatino... even
more ubiquitous than Pokemon Go...
But... you can’t “catch ‘em all!” So what
do you do?
Attend the 2017 North American
Dental Sleep Medicine Symposium.
are innumerable opportunities for Dental Sleep Medicine (DSM) education today. As
recently as five years ago, if you
lived in a major metropolitan
area, there might be one or two
events in your area each year. If
you weren’t in a major metropolis, you were relegated to booking flights and hotels for you…
and your team. It was a costly
endeavor to which you had to
be committed. Better hope it’s a
great course.
In recent years, the rapid emergence of DSM awareness has also
created a DSM CE boom. From
evening study club presentations
and weekend courses to webinars and mini-residencies, CE opportunities on this topic are even
more ubiquitous than Pokemon
Go. There are some great courses
out there presented by Jamison
Spencer, Kent Smith, Gy Yatros,
Erin Elliott, and others, but unlike Pokemon, you can’t “catch
‘em all!” So what do you do? How
do you ensure that your time and
money are well spent?
Consider what you want out of
the CE opportunity. Most of the
time, the overriding theme that
dentists share with me is that
they’re seeking practical CE to
help implement and grow the
dental sleep portion of the practice. Does that apply to you? Are
you seeking information about
any of the following topics?
• What are indications & contraindications for use for the
most popular dental devices?
• How can you take accurate records to minimize device delivery chair-time?
• When should you use hybrid
PAP-OAT therapy?
• How do you identify pediatric OSA patients and what is the
treatment pathway?
• When and how should you use
Home Sleep Testing?
• What should you do about
Medicare? Opt in? Opt out? Accept assignment of benefits?
• How can you get your team to
become DSM Superheroes and
drive explosive growth in this
facet of your practice?
What if you could actually receive all of this information in
one place? What if that place was
at a beautiful beachfront resort in
the winter? Full disclosure here;
I’m working with my colleagues
to host this event. Why? Because
it’s necessary.
I’ve spoken with too many dentists that attend large national
meetings and feel that they’re
rife with interesting yet impractical academia. I’ve spoken with
too many dentists that attend
meetings that are merely thinly
veiled sales programs masquerading as education. This meeting
defies both of those. The North
American Dental Sleep Medicine Symposium’s speaker roster
consists entirely of dentists that
have made DSM a primary, if not
singular, focus of their practices. They will share the tools, tips,
and techniques that have made
them successful. Does this appeal
to you? That’s what I thought. Be
there.
