The ADI Team Congress 2017 ‘ Dental Implantology : A Global Perspective – Inspiration From Around The World ’ is taking place at the ExCel Centre in London from 2nd to the 4th March . The event begins at 8.00am on Thursday 2nd with a series of Corporate Forums from BEGO Implant Systems , Nobel Biocare , Straumann , Dentsply Sirona , Geistlich Biomaterials , Osstem Implant and Southern Implants , before moving to the Plenary Programme at 1.00pm .

Thousands of dental implants are placed in the UK every year and , with the increasing popularity of treatment , even more can be expected in the coming years .
As such , there is a huge potential market in which dentists and their teams can thrive . Not only do modern materials and techniques ensure reliable , predictable and generally outstanding clinical results , but they also enable the dental team to have a profound impact on patients ’ quality of life . The opening session will be moderated by the ADI President , Craig Parker . This first afternoon session will contain presentations by speakers from the USA , South Africa , Spain and France and will begin with the amazing story of the World ’ s first face transplant – which was foreshadowed in the January issue of Dental Practice by Daniel S Alam , the surgeon who was in charge of this life-changing operation .
The second day ’ s programme is much more detailed , with parallel sessions for

There is also a GDP Update programme on Friday afternoon aimed at dentists with no previous experience with dental implants . The Student session has the morning dedicated to formal presentations changing to practical workshops in the afternoon .
Dennis Tarnow and Stephen Chu are not to be missed , exploring immediate implant protocols , treatment time , survival rates and the effective management of extraction sockets . Further sessions will cover everything from implant supported facial reconstruction with Dales Howes to pre-surgical planning with Bjarni Pjetursson and the current status of CBCT with Jimmy Makdissi . Lisa Heitz- Mayfield will also discuss peri-implantitis , while William Martin will share his extensive expertise to help delegates reduce prosthetic
implant complications .
Considering the non-clinical factors involved in dental implantology , Franck Renouard will emphasise the importance of a clinician ’ s attitude for treatment success . “ During my lecture , I will discuss the protocols we can follow to reduce stress and cut down the errors that can waste time and money . I will draw clear comparisons between dentistry and aviation , encouraging delegates to examine non-technical factors in order to enhance their provision of implant treatment .”
