I have a lot of fond memories from my times that I spent as a teenager with Dennis and Cathy , as well as the recent times we have shared . Dennis , I remember you as the smart , fun , and friendly brother who was always willing to chat and easy to laugh with .

Grandad , you taught me many things , most of which were very practical and down to earth , these are skills that I cherish to this day . From wood working , to camping , problem solving , and so many others .
One memory that has always stuck with me , as some great advice in general , is that if something is not bothering you , leave it alone . While bush walking one hot summers day ( hunting roo ’ s ) there were a million flies on your back . Being a naive young 7- or 8-year-old , I helpfully shooed them away . After which they promptly started buzzing around our faces . You stopped , and in that quiet wise way of yours explained that , when the flies were just sitting on your back , they weren ’ t bothering anyone , but now they ’ re all over both of us .
It ’ s a simple memory , but one that has stuck with me as an excellent allegory for life in general , don ’ t go looking for trouble , don ’ t bother others when they ’ re just getting on with things . Live and let live , don ’ t sweat the small stuff . - Shane
Grandad , whenever the other Clunings were saying crazy things , I could always look over to you for a laugh and a discrete shake of our heads as we wondered what they were talking about . I will miss you . - Nish
My favourite memory of Grandad was when he taught me how to wave ! - Logan

After dad died , I wasn ’ t able to come up and see you until I could drive myself . This is when I had the opportunity to travel and spend time with you both at Kurrajong Camp in Exmouth , Coodardy Station , and Shark Bay at Perron House . During each visit I learnt so much and remember just being happy . I appreciated being able to stop by whenever I was close , or when I was going away for a weekend and bringing my friends too . Even when I moved to the NT I always knew your support and help was just one phone call away .
