Habitat:
Occurs on dry and moist, well drained sites in the sun or partial shade; nearly continent wide in its distribution (Randall et al 1988).
Finely branched shrub to 6’ tall. Leaves opposite 3/4” to 2 1/2” long, 1” oval/elliptical; green above, paler below; margins entire. Flowers pinkish white, bell shaped, up to 1/4” long and clustered. Fruit round, white, waxy berry, up to 1/2” in diameter. Twigs smooth, light yellow brown, very slender; opposite branching. Bark tan grey to grayish brown; tends to split in older branches (Randall et al 1988).
