Metal Roofing
This is possibly one of the oldest types of roofing material used in
commercial building and industry. The most common material used is
galvanized and corrugated steel but tin and aluminum are also commonly
used as well. Like SPD apply a new metal roof does not require the old
roofing material to be stripped away as the metal roof can be simply laid on
top. This keeps installation cost, effort and time down. Once the roofing has
been laid a protective layer of coating is applied to protect it from the
elements. Some things to be aware of with metal roofs are that they are very
versatile and come in many colours and materials. They are also strong and
durable and can stand up to high winds and heavy snow falls. They are very
energy efficient is so much as they are made from recycled material but are
poor insulators as metal is a very good conductor. This means they will get
very hot in summer and cold in winter. However, there are a couple of other
drawbacks one of which is the higher upfront investment and the fact that
you will need to consider adding an insulation layer yourself which is
additional expense.
