LUNCH ON BOARD, A TRIP TO A BEACH BAR AND THE ABILITY TO COOL OFF WITH A DIP IN THE SEA. EXPERIENCED WATER SPORTS MEN AND WOMEN ARE ALWAYS ON THE LOOKOUT FOR A NEW CHALLENGE AND FOR HI-TECH TOYS TO ENTERTAIN THEM WHICH COMBINE A WORKOUT WITH THE ESSENTIAL FUN FACTOR. As the fastest underwater jet-ski in the world, the Seabob is now a much sought-after superyacht toy. Up to now it has been predominantly yacht owners who have enjoyed being able to head out with only a pair of goggles and straight away explore both above and below the water. But that is all set to change. There are now two celebrity hotspots in the Balearics that will hire out these fun watercraft. Anyone checking into the Hard Rock Hotel in Ibiza with a Rock Royalty package will have at their disposal a Seabob, including if they wish a shuttle to the harbour. Those in the know then take a charter yacht to the neighbouring island of Formentera, where pop stars such as Sarah Conner and Sascha like to lunch at Juan y Andrea beach club. Here you will also find two special edition Seabobs. Setting off from the fine sandy beach you can use them to explore the coves in the surrounding area or head out towards the ships moored off the coast. Anyone unfamiliar with the Seabob will find there the perfect opportunity to put one through its paces. The handling is intuitive; two intelligent Controlgrips, similar to those on a motorbike, and four sensor-controlled buttons control the speed, from relaxed cruising to a top speed of 20km/h. In light seas, the movement of the waves adds an extra adrenalin kick and diving under the water at high speeds is certainly a thrill, but one without any risk. For safety reasons the default settings allow you to dive to just 2.5 metres, although this can be reduced to 0.5 metres if you wish. Experienced divers can increase this depth up to 40 metres using the same menu. The construction of the Seabob is designed to be sustainable, the patented E-Jet system is practically silent and the highly efficient lithium-manganese battery gives you 60 minutes of fun. When switched off the Seabob floats on the water for short breaks or to enable a change of driver. This multi-functional craft can equally be used for getting from your yacht to the beach or for just whizzing around the swimming pool. Windsurfing legend Bjørn Dunkerbeck described the feeling like this: “I’ve never gone so fast on the water as I did with the Seabob. I really felt like a dolphin in the water.” On land the new generation Seabob F5 weighs 29kg. The design has won a Red Dot Award and can be painted to match a ship’s or a restaurant’s corporate colours. The Seabob can be lifted out of the water by hand and carried on land, and it can also be transported in the boot of a car. No driving licence or registration is required. In future we are certain to be seeing Seabobs in front of beach clubs, hotels and resorts in Mallorca, too, for day trippers to hire. The Seabob Base Headquarters in Cala Ratjada is staffed by experienced personnel and in Port Adriano NautiParts is also a dealer. Have fun! TranslaTion: Celia Moody | PhoTos: WaTerline Media DELUXE 45
