Book Signings
& Conversations
with Delta Authors in
the Jacksonville Community
On Saturday, February 9, Soror Barbara Darby hosted a
book launch & signing for her 1 st book – My Leadership
Journey: Wisdom from the Trenches. It is a personal
account of her leadership odyssey. The book signing
and reception were held at Jacksonville City Hall and
attended by over 100 sorors, family, friends, former
colleagues, and political dignitaries. The highlight of the
event was when our own Soror and New York Times
Best Selling Author, Brenda Jackson interviewed Dr.
Darby about the motivation and process for writing her
book.
Jacksonville Alumnae member attended the American
Association of University Women’s (AAUW) monthly
business meeting on Saturday, February 16, 2019. The
meeting featured a discussion of the book, The
Firebrand and the First Lady, by Patricia Bell-Scott.
The book is about Soror Pauli Murray (Firebrand), an
honorary member of the sorority and First Lady, Eleanor
Roosevelt enduring friendship that helped to alter the
course of race and racism in America. An amazing
discussion and history of another trailblazing Soror.
Congratulations to Soror Katrina Riley for her 1st
book – “When She Leads.” A leadership book for
school leaders.
A Book Launch and Signing were hosted on
February 23, at South Kitchen Restaurant. A great
event, supported by sorors, friends, and family as
Soror Katrina shared her journey in writing the book.
