The first phase of the collaboration will concentrate
on childhood asthma and the risk factors,
such as environment and pollution, that affect the
symptoms and diagnosis of the disease. It will look
at the point at which patients are picked up by the
healthcare system and how they interact with local
services.
What McLaren Applied Technologies is attempting
to do is to look at clinical pathways across
specific patient cohorts and assess how to use
this information to predict outcomes and impact
interventions.
Whether it is an individual or a population group,
Bradley says, it’s not hard to monitor people and
gather a lot of data about their health. But what
matters most, he says, is how you deliver consistent
and meaningful insights to patients and health
systems. “The future of healthcare is to use innovative
technologies to save lives and drive better
outcomes.” ■
