Motor Vehicle Department . This offi ce , located 221 2nd Street N ., provides a variety of services to meet the needs of our citizens . This offi ce handles all motor vehicle transactions and all DNR vehicle transactions . Some services include : tab renewals , new and newto-state vehicle registration , title transfers , duplicate title , and duplicate plates .
The offi ce can process limited driver ’ s license transactions . If you need a duplicate driver ’ s license or ID Card because yours was lost or stolen , or need a change of address , the Motor Vehicle Offi ce can process the transaction for you . Planning and Land Use . As the City continues to grow , City planning become increasingly important to the community . The Delano Planning Commission is responsible for reviewing all development applications including plat approvals , zoning amendments , rezoning , variances , appeals and special use permits . The Commission will then make its recommendation to the City Council who will then make the fi nal decision . Parks and Recreation . Parks and recreation are an integral part of the quality of life within the community . These programs provide a vehicle for residents to enjoy fellowship with other community members , participate in events , and spend time outdoors with friends and family . The Delano area features a great parks system that hosts many opportunities for residents to participate in recreational programming . Delano ’ s parks offer green space , sports facilities , trails , and many other outlets to enjoy Minnesota ’ s great outdoors . Delano Senior Center . The Delano Senior Center strives to provide services that help meet the needs of people 55 and older . Local residents are invited to participate in the many programs offered through the Center .
The Senior Dining Program , operated by Catholic Charities Senior Dining , offers both a congregate dining and a Meals-on-Wheels program for homebound seniors . A well-balanced noon meal , prepared on-site , is served at the Senior Center or delivered by volunteers to homebound seniors . These meals are delivered through a network of volunteer drivers . Meals-on-Wheels is available to seniors 60 and older living in the cities of Delano , Maple Plain , Independence , Rockford , or Loretto , as well as in Franklin Township .
Volunteer opportunities include receptionist , Meals-on-Wheels drivers , kitchen aides , group leaders , serving on an advisory board , and more .

Public Works is responsible for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of our community ’ s infrastructure , as well as being instrumental in the long-term planning needs of our parks , streets and our sanitary sewer and storm sewer .
Zoning Enforcement . In an effort to ensure properties within the city are in compliance with zoning code and regulations , a new position of Zoning Enforcement Specialist was created in 2021 . This new position fully manages the entire enforcement process and is responsible for the overall administration and enforcement by receiving requests / complaints , conducting the inspections , and scheduling necessary follow-up to ensure compliance .
