Lulu ’ s is 2022 Business of the Year
Looking your best is just good therapy , says Lauri Schaust , owner of Lulu ’ s Retail Therapy in downtown Delano .
“ You feel better when you look better . You feel better about yourself , and you have more confi dence ,” said the Delano businesswoman .
Over the past several years , the longtime fashion expert has taken that philosophy and helped women dress better , and ultimately feel better . Her efforts have paid off again , as her business has been named 2022 Delano Business of the Year by the Delano Area Chamber of Commerce .
In its 20th year , the Delano Area Chamber of Commerce annually selects a business of the year based on a number of criteria . Nominations are made to the chamber board of directors , and a fi nal selection is made . Recent winners include Lupine Brewing Company , 2021 , Harwood ’ s Body Shop , 2020 , Stahlke Bus Service , 2019 , Linda ’ s Photography , 2019 and MacLean Law Offi ce , 2017 .
Schaust has always been sold on Delano and a promoter of the community . As a Delano High School graduate , she spent more than 25 years coaching the dance team . Today , she is active in the chamber , the 4th of July , the Downtown Delano group and others , and she is a certifi ed dance team judge , which she continues to do .
“ Lulu ’ s is one of the fastest growing businesses in downtown Delano ,” a nominator of Lulu ’ s wrote . “ Laurie continually provides consistent service to her clients and supporting events . Whenever there is a Delano event , you will always see Laurie , and Lulu ’ s , supporting those events . She also refers her clients to all other businesses in Delano .”
Lulu ’ s is open the fi rst two weekends of each month , Thursday through Saturday , 10 a . m . to 5 p . m . at 224 N . River Street .
