Welcome To Delano
Welcome to Delano and thank you for your interest in this year ’ s Delano Guidebook . I have the privilege of serving the community and its great people as Mayor of Delano . I hope you fi nd this beautiful city to be as friendly , vibrant , and community-orientated as I believe it to be .
Delano is a thriving community with many things to look forward to in 2022 . The Granite Works Redevelopment in downtown Delano will open 70 new market rate apartments this summer with wonderful views overlooking the river and walkable access to our bustling downtown . The City will also welcome many new residents to neighborhoods around the community . It is our belief that our newest residents will enjoy the wonderful quality of life and will also become engaged through participation in community groups and organizations .
The Spirit of Community , which is special to us in Delano , depends on an active population contributing for the betterment of the community . We see this every year in the community-led activities and events , such as the 4th of July Celebration , Old Fashioned Christmas , Oktoberfest , recreational and athletic groups , and active community groups . I would invite all to take part , enjoy , and get involved .
I would also like to call attention the many businesses in our community that provide services , produce goods , and create employment in our town . Employment opportunities in Delano have risen over 39 % during the past decade . Please support our local businesses and employers . Through them , Delano will continue to prosper and thrive as a freestanding economy west of the metro area .
To the traveler and resident alike , know that you are all welcome here and that Delano will always be a place you can call home .
