4-H
4-H is a youth development organization for youth in kindergarten through one year past high school , which works to foster life skills in its members , generally focusing on leadership , citizenship , and community service . 4-H is the largest out-of-school youth organization in the United States with more than 7 million youth members . Wright County currently has more than 600 4-H members and over 160 adult leaders . 4-H offers a special Cloverbud program for youth in kindergarten through second grade . Wright County has 18 clubs throughout the county . 4-H clubs generally conduct monthly meetings , allowing youth to make new friends and learn about topics they are interested in . Wright County 4-H also hosts various events throughout the year , including overnight & day camps , project workshops , community service projects , bringing projects to the county fair , horse clinics , learning various shooting sports , exchange trips , and much more .

Big Woods Garden Club
The Big Woods Garden Club , which was founded in 2002 , serves the areas of western Hennepin , Wright , and northern Carver counties .
Meetings are generally the third Thursday of the month at 6:30 p . m ., with approximately seven meetings per year ; no December , January , or February meetings . Meeting dates , times , and locations may change depending on events and opportunities . Meetings consist of guest speakers on various gardening topics , garden craft projects , garden tours , an annual dinner , and a holiday party . One to two meetings per year all open to the public .
The club currently has approximately 30 members , and Deb DeBeer is president .
Individual membership dues are $ 15 per year and are pro-rated for one-half of the year .
The purpose of the organization is to provide a variety of gardening-related educational programs ; plant , install , and assist in maintaining local community plantings to enhance the beauty of cities , towns , parks , and open spaces ; raise awareness and funds for community garden programs and efforts ; and provide a social environment where individuals interested in gardening can meet and exchange ideas .
Special events or projects include the BWGC plant sale in May , which will take place Saturday , May 22 , and the annual garden tour , which is tentatively scheduled for Saturday , July 10 . Both are for the community at large .
Other projects include a booth at the Delano Expo , Adopt-a-Highway , and an annual community planting project in addition to the monthly educational programs and demonstrations at the meetings .

Delano American Legion
The Delano American Legion Post 377 was first founded in 1919 and chartered in 1924 . The current commander is Jeremy Christenson and the first vice commander and membership director is Branden Boorse . The adjutant is Mike Brandenburg , finance officer Tim Falde , Sergeant at Arms Carl Janzen , and chaplain Joel Branis . Post 377 is actively involved with the following projects : Delano Fourth of July Celebration ; Memorial Day ; Veterans Day ; veterans ’ funerals ; Legion Baseball ; Girls and Boys State ; essay scholarship contest ; and a variety of other activities that support Americanism education , veterans , and children and youth . The Post holds regular meetings on the first Monday of the month .
There are more than 500 members in the Legion Family which include : Post 377 , the Delano American Legion Auxiliary , President Tracey Gurneau ; the Delano Sons of the American Legion ( SAL ), President Brian Blowers ; and American Legion Riders , Director Stephen Garrison .
This is a very active post , not only in the community but also in the district . The organization had two past district commanders and three district presidents .

Delano Area Community Foundation
The Delano Area Community Foundation was founded in 1997 to start an endowment for the Delano area . Its mission is to enhance the quality of life for the Delano are community through grants and initiatives . It offers an excellent opportunity for any person to make lasting contributions to the Delano area , both as a board member or a donor . Donations are tax-deductible .
