Breakout Session 1 : 7:00 - 7:50 p . m . ET Track A : Setting the Stage to Engage Diverse Voices Session 1A : Approaches for Dealing with Implicit Biases
The primary objective of this workshop is to equip professionals to be individuals who stand up and take action in the face of adversity . Discussion will focus particularly on institutionalized bias , class system structure , and the ways in which empathy can lead to societal change . Through understanding bias and acquiring the tools to combat it , professionals will be better equipped to work and interact with the increasingly diverse student population within higher education . Specifically , we will foster professionals ’ ability to interact with students to tell their stories while combating their own individual biases .
