Natalya Laskis

Laskis' works depict representational snapshots of socially exclusive groups by utilizing both abstracted
and emotionally-tuned visual language. Her work takes interest in abstraction and the subjective, while
analyzing those concepts trough a loosened application of paint. Emotionally Unavailable at the Deering
Estate Festival of the Arts, In Deep Exhibit, ties into the theme of man’s interaction with his environment.
The work, located in Charles Deering’s Study on the second floor of the historic 1922 Stone House,
portrays an intimate and chaotic office environment with stacked and strewn papers, as well as a globe
referencing Charles’ international travels.
After graduating from the New World School of the Arts in Miami, Laskis received a BFA from the
prestigious Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, MD. Selected solo exhibitions include What
is Love at the Galleria Glance, Turin, Italy; Shortness of Breath at Locust Projects, Miami, FL and American
Odyssey at Fredric Snitzer Gallery, Miami. In addition to numerous group exhibitions, the artist has
been included in the 35th Anniversary Show at Fredric Snitzer Gallery, Miami, FL and Gloria Hole at the
Fireplace Projects, East Hampton, NY. She maintains her studio at the Deering Estate at Cutler in
Miami, FL as part of the Artist in Residence Program.
