In November 2013, Miamians took to the streets and chalked 26 miles across Miami Beach and the
City of Miami, showing their neighbors what would be underwater and the future extent of sea level
rise while sparking conversations, ideas and solutions through community gatherings, storytelling
workshops and sessions aimed at expanding dialogue towards building a more resilient Miami.
Documentation and imagery from the project was presented during the In Deep Exhibition.
HighWaterLine|Miami is a creative collaboration between international environmental artist Eve
Mosher, creative catalyst Heidi Quante, urban tactician Marta Viciedo, and residents of Miami. Eve
Mosher founded HighWaterLine in New York City in 2007 as an innovative tool to help communities
address climate change. After the project attracted international attention, Mosher joined with Heidi
Quante in 2012 to create a Miami event. Quante’s career has focused on designing creative communication
campaigns for diverse groups including The Story of Stuff, 350.org, and many others. Marta Viciedo,
leader of Resilient Miami, is the local HWL education leader conducting outreaches and public seminars.
