The Cottage Belles Sweet Tea and The Mangrove Cornucopia Dimensions variable Installation, cut synthetic paper, inks, plexiglass 2014 Karla Caprali 14 The Spanish Gothic style of the Deering Estate and the beauty and simplicity of The Richmond Cottage inspired me to create this installation. These panels are made of sustainable, synthetic, paper-like material that has been drawn, sewn, dyed and cut. My aim was to depict the purity and delicacy of old times. It was created specifically for Mrs. Deering’s Dressing Room. Although Caprali was born in Brazil, she has been living in Miami for over 14 years. She primarily works with paper and mixed mediums. Lately, her main inspiration has been the picturesque scenery of South Miami as its coastal mangroves mirror the landscape of the exotic Brazilian city where she was born and spent most of her life in. Caprali is also invested in exploring the specific meanings of patterns and design in old and contemporary civilizations. www.caprali.com • [email protected] Born in Belem, Para, Brazil • Currently based in Cutler Bay, Florida
