Pahayokee 24”x24” Acrylic and oil on board 2013 Harumi Abe 10 Seminole Indians refers to the Everglade as Pahayokee, which means glassy river. I visited Pahayokee, an actual nature trail in park and observed many birds making their home in the cypress dome. In this painting, I refer to my everglades experience and new ideas about home. Harumi Abe is a Japanese native artist living in America. She has participated in many exhibitions in South Florida. Her works are collected at Girls Club Collection and Mosquera Collection. Abe received South Florida Cultural Consortium in 2008. Abe holds MFA from Florida International University. She is a painting professor at Savannah College of Art and Design.
