I started out working as a salesman at Trails Department Store in Tempe, AZ in 2002. At the time I was thinking it was a short term job. I work at Trails for 3 years, working into a store manager. The company was fun, but I wasn't happy with a few things and decided to leave.
I took a opening position at Blaze Smoke Shop in Tempe, AZ and quickly worked my way to running their company, which at the time had two locations. I worked at Blaze for three years, the last half working for only one of the original owners. The owner and I had different opinions and he made the decision to fire me January 2009.
I opened my first store in Gilbert, AZ January 2010. I picked that location based of the feedback I had gotten working in Tempe, AZ for 6 years. There were plenty of smokers in the area and no quality shops. I opened thinking the store would help me pay bills hopefully within 6 months. I was willing to work the store by myself forever. The store quickly grew with the help of a few products and great customer service. I open a second location in September in Chandler, AZ in 2010. The next store opened April in Phoenix, AZ in 2012. The newest location opened in April in Tempe, AZ in 2013. The newest location is actually the store I originally started as a salesman at Trails 10 years before. I felt wild.
I love this industry because it helps all walks of life. I was able to relate to all customers and the response was so positive. I was helping people get their new toys, toys that cost more than my vehicle in some cases. The industry has been around for over 30 years and I feel lucky to do what we do every day. I took what I thought was great and left out what I felt was negative. I offer well light, highly educated staff, and an overall comfortable clean experience. It’s been a great four years and the next are looking even better. We are hoping to expand and relocate nationwide, until then, www.HMSmokeShop.com can help you nationwide!
