SVRCS Yearbook Staff Achieves Gold Award
Jostens has been helping schools capture their memories for over sixty years . The SVRCS Journalism / Yearbook staff stays very busy throughout the school year putting those memories into the perfectly themed grid to create this reminder of a significant period in the lives of students to cherish forever . They create these memorabilia to highlight the dedication , creativity , and friendships that made the school year memorable . All of their hard work paid off , as the student-led Yearbook Staff received the Josten ’ s 2023 National Yearbook Program of Excellence Gold Award .
The 2022-2023 Yearbook staff was composed of eight students working under the direction of teacher and Yearbook Advisor , Morgan Rager . The criteria to achieve such an award is to meet all deadlines throughout the year , cover creation , and include over 50 % of the student population throughout the book on three separate displays . Yearbook sales also increased last year , having over 70 % of the student body purchase a yearbook . The National Yearbook Program of Excellence Award is given , based on the extraordinary efforts that go into creating a yearbook and making it accessible to every student . The purpose is to strive to be sure every student is included in the memories of that school year , create a meaningful book that students and families want to purchase , and administer effective project management during the creation process .
SVRCS would like to acknowledge that this award doesn ’ t just highlight the hard work of the students , but also their advisor . Miss Rager has been a teacher and Yearbook Advisor at SVRCS for three years . With the help of the Jostens representative , she learned the yearbook creation process as she teaches it to the students , manages their budget , and oversees the final production . Through her leadership , the yearbook group has captured amazing memories for students , as well as creative activities that include all students throughout the school .
This year ' s yearbook staff includes eleven students in grades 9-12 . Miss Rager , student editor Emma Downing , and the rest of the staff are working hard on the 2024 yearbook setting a goal to earn the Gold Level Award again with a yearbook that plans to go “ To Infinity and Beyond .”
