I MISS BEING BORED....
Does anyone else feel like their brain is just … full? Gosh, I do sometimes envy the times before social media when I wasn’ t bombarded with notifications and sucked into an endless scroll of content.
In the online world of cake, we’ re constantly surrounded by beautiful cake imagery from our favourite artists, witness new trends popping up overnight and products being advertised to us left, right and centre. There’ s always something new to look at( blessing and a curse) and it feels like the brain doesn’ t even get a chance to rest.
For me, this constant stream of cake content started to take its toll. I started to realise that I was struggling to be creative and sketch out new ideas. We all have our creative blocks of course, but this was something different. My brain was tired. Every idea I came up with felt flat, because nothing could compete with the constant stream of perfect cakes I’ d been scrolling through. And nothing felt unique or special, because it felt like every design had been done already.
So I made the decision to step back from following cake accounts on social media. And honestly, it helped. I wasn’ t bombarded all the time. My creativity could breathe again. Without the noise and comparison, I could actually hear my own ideas( and get excited about them!).
