INTRODUCTION I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving with their family . As the weather becomes more conducive to typical paddle tactics , I thought an article on the topic would be interesting .
The best tactical discussions come from our players competing ( Box Leagues , Draft Leagues and Interclub ). One such discussion is whether a server should always serve and volley . If you know my coaching style , the word “ always ” denotes it ’ s likely untrue .
Although , the debate may be deeper than that . There are things I can do to win tactically . Yet , they might stall my development . This is true in many aspects of my life !

Over the holiday , my oldest son was home from Ohio State . He started playing a little piano at school . A surprising number of engineering / science students are musicians .
His little brother also dabbles in piano and guitar . So , we decided to pull the guitars out and start his journey on the 6 string .
What came up was a discussion about fingering of certain chords .
There are literally tons of ways to do a G chord . Some are easy , some are harder . I showed Logan some easy ways to do a G . That would allow him some early success as he attempts to transition between chords .
I also showed him a more difficult fingering . Why ? It opens doors to other chord progressions later . this article .
That is the premise of
A more difficult fingering of an Open
G Chord .
