LADIES : Ladies finished up their tournament season in October with the Fall Fling , followed by their fall luncheon / business meeting . The team of Laura Shaner , Joan Miller , Shelley Undercoffer , and Christy Harris finished in first place .
The ladies have regularly scheduled teetimes for the fall on Wednesdays at 11:00 ; and Sat and Sunday at 10:30-10:40 .
SENIORS : The Senior Association group had their final interclub match of the season at home against Spotswood . The Lexington Seniors won a hotly contested match by 2 holes .
JUNIORS : The Rockbridge HS golf team advanced to the States . Freshman Andrew McCoy and junior Sofia Vargas made the alldistrict team . Rounding out the team are Jack Jensen , Abby Brooks , Harrison Tanner , Nicholas Vargas , and Wil Gibbs . Congrats to all .
Sofia concluded her high school career and was able to qualify and then play in the Girl ’ s States . Only 43 players made it to the Women ’ s HS tournament .
CLUB EVENTS : Some upcoming events . MARK YOUR CALENDAR .
• Mad-Hatter . Jan 1stfalls on a Sunday so the Mad Hatter will be held on Saturday , Dec 31 . We will use a 10:30 shotgun start for this member and guest event . Create a foursome or sign up as an individual and the pro shop will help you formulate a team .
COLLEGES : As you are aware , The Washington & Lee men ’ s and women ’ s golf teams play out here . Both teams are ranked in the top 10 nationally , ( women 6th ; men 9th ) in DIII .
Also , Southern Virginia Univ men ’ s and women ’ s teams have had successful fall seasons . The women ’ s team won their own invitational at Lexington G & CC in October over an 11 team field .
COURSE CONDITIONS : The course is playing under fall conditions , which means leaves are now a topic of discussion . Jake ’ s crew will try to keep up with this factor . Enjoy the fall season and take advantage of those good and better days .
The Putting / chipping green near the parking lot has recently received a great deal of attention and is in really good shape . We NEED everyone to REPAIR ANY AND ALL BALLMARKS created by your chipping . I prefer you use this green for bump and runs and not 30-yard pitch shots .
The driving range is what it is at this point in time . We are exploring some options that includes a mat system so that hitting conditions are consistent throughout the fall and winter . Grass will not grow this late , so a mat system will allow for grow in periods during the growing season .
DONATE your used golf balls and older clubs for use in our junior program .
Thanks ,
