After many months of being unable to run competitions it was good for the Buena Vista Petanca Club to hold their Halloween Cup Competition , organised by Martin Cook last month . their knowledge and work and help them improve their work .

Royal British Legion Nerja
As the Royal British Legion celebrates its 100th anniversary , this year ’ s Remembrance events started with the
Poppy Walk on Sunday 17 October . 19 walkers ( and two dogs !) took part walking from the Al Andalus Hotel in Maro to the Chapel Bar in Nerja . Over € 2,000 was raised on the day . Many thanks to all the walkers and to Sharon and Fred at the Chapel Bar for hosting a fun afternoon .
After being sadly cancelled last year due to Covid restrictions the annual Poppy Ball returned in style to the Caves restaurant Maro on Friday 12 November ! The event was sold out with 115 guests attending in their finery . A splendid dinner was followed by entertainment and dancing with Ricky Lavazza and Laura Elen . Thank you to all those involved in organising this wonderful
laid and we joined millions in the UK and beyond in observing the two minute silence in memory of the fallen . Lest we forget .
Lux Mundi
Mari Carmen Fernandez , a renowned local artist , visited the Lux Mundi Centre in Torre del Mar last month to share her work and her techniques with the art group that meets every Wednesday . Mari Carmen is self-taught and is also a writer and poet . She explained that each of her works has a story behind it and
she showed the group some of her latest paintings in which she uses a technique used by great painters such as Velázquez called " glaze ". This technique was admired by the group for its beauty and for the visual effect it gives to the paintings . The Lux Mundi Torre del Mar Art group appreciates these informative visits and invites other artists to share some new / returning faces . Lux Mundi would also like to thank everyone for their kind donations of € 72.90 which were collected for our funds which is very important and means a lot for the future of the Centre . Our next lunch will be on Monday December 13 at 14.00 at the Safari Lounge , Torre del Mar . Please come to the Centre and reserve your place . See page 51 for details .
Nerjamar ´ s Christmas Fundraiser 2021
Nerjamar Real Estate , based on Burriana Beach , are again appealing for your help with their annual Christmas fundraising for Cruz Roja ( Red Cross ) and Cáritas Nerja . They are hoping to help even more local families who are struggling at the moment , with Christmas being an exceptionally difficult time for many . Cáritas Nerja provide non-perishable food items to local families and Cruz Roja ( Red Cross ) collect new toys for children in the local area for Three King ’ s Day on 6th January . Club Internacional de Nerja
Please note Club Internacional de Nerja are operating out of Potters Bar until further notice . Their opening hours are currently : Tuesday 11:00 to 14:00 and Saturday 11:00 to 13:00 . They have sole use of the bar during these hours and all drinks are at the Club ’ s discounted prices . Annual membership can be obtained on either day at € 20 . Do come along and join them .
