Hens dumped
Mystery surrounds the appearance of around 100 hens found in plastic rubbish bags in Vélez-Málaga . Local press reports suggest that a number of the animals were dead , although it is unclear whether or not this was caused by being placed in the black sacks . Police have been investigating following the discovery of the birds in a lane on the outskirts of an industrial estate .

Both Nerja and Torrox will rejoin the Andalucía Network of Public Theatres in 2022 , a move which Nerja ’ s Culture Councillor Gema Laguna described as a “ clear commitment ” by the municipality . Brits warned over Festive Food

The British Embassy in Spain has warned those planning to travel to or from the UK over Christmas to check the rules if they intend to carry food products in their luggage . Since the UK quit the EU at the end of last year , the rules have changed , meaning that it is now illegal to import or export certain items .
Official guidance by the EU warns that anyone found to have broken the rules when they enter Spain , or any other EU country , risks a fine . In addition , the produce deemed to be illegal could be confiscated and destroyed .
Travellers from Spain to the UK should also note that rules on entering the country with food and animal products are different in the case of Northern Ireland .

New cave painting found

A new painting has been discovered during conservation work being carried out in Nerja ’ s network of caves at Maro . First pictures released last month show lines and spots of red pigment , which have been identified as the image of an animal .
Experts say it appears to be a headless quadruped with a horse-like body , and with folds on the neck which resemble the markings of a zebra . The pigment with which it was drawn is thought to be iron oxide , although parts of the rules also apply to sending products by post .
Information on taking food , plant and animal products into the UK is available at https :// www . gov . uk / bringing-foodinto-great-britain .
