LETTER FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
The holiday season is upon us , and the cooler weather has slowed the golf course down dramatically . Our mowing schedule will be less frequent , and this allows us to play a little catch up on some detail maintenance on the course .
One of our main focus points throughout this month will be some tree trimming throughout the golf course . The maintenance crew will be targeting the oak trees in tee and green areas first then moving to the outer rough areas . We will not be able to do all the work in house but will be coordinating with a tree company for any removals of dead trees and high lift trimming on the taller trees . My goal is not to change the character of the golf course but to enhance the look and playability of it .
The greens are rolling truer as time goes on . We have stuck to our rolling schedule and will add a day or two per week to give the turf a break from the mower in the cooler weather . We will also continue our monthly solid tine aerifications and light topdressing to ensure water and air movement on the greens . I have really considered lowering the height for speed but have decided against it due to the age of the greens . I am confident the weather will speed them up on its own via cooler temperatures and lower humidity .
From the Golf Maintenance Staff ……… HAPPY HOLIDAYS and have a MERRY CHRISTMAS
