LETTER FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
LETTER FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
Dear members of SJGCC ,
We have been fortunate with some great weather recently with nice temperatures and dry conditions . This is my favorite time of year in North Florida - still warm enough temperatures to keep the grass growing a bit but less disease and insect pressure to be concerned with . I know everyone loves green grass , but I really enjoy the contrast when the shortgrass is holding some color and the rough starts to go dormant .
We have had a fairly productive month . We have been able to address some of the outside areas of the golf course that we had not been able to get to during the growing season . We will continue cleaning and spraying out cordgrass beds and other areas throughout the winter . We were also able to solid tine the greens early in the month to open them up after a busy late summer / early fall season . This is a practice we will continue monthly throughout the winter to help air movement within the soil profile , aid in drainage , and reduce compaction . We also over seeded the range tee as well as the academy tee a couple of weeks ago and just finished the chipping area .
Wishing you all a Happy Holidays from the maintenance department !!
Thanks ,

Mike O ’ Malley
