LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR OF AGRONOMY
Happy holidays to everyone and I hope you have a great holiday season ! We have had a busy November . We have begun the much-needed process of trimming trees . We are trying our best to not disrupt play . However , there may be occasions where that happens with the influx of players during the busy season .
We are working to get all the trees canopied up to help grass growth through additional sun light . We are also trying to take some foliage and weight off the limbs to help the trees survive longer . It is a process that we will continue through December and hopefully have both courses completed by year ’ s end .
We have added some much-needed coquina to certain areas to help with cart wear and tear . We are also working to eliminate areas , by tees and greens , that might be a hazard when getting on and off the cart .
You will notice some new yellow signs on both courses , and we ask that you please adhere to them . This will help keep our turf from unnecessary wear and tear around the greens . We continue to have issues with a lot of golfers driving up to the greens and tees thus disregarding the Club ’ s rules and regulations . We want everyone to enjoy the game , but please help us protect these areas by following the simple rule of keeping your cart on the path around tees and greens . I am trying to avoid putting ropes up . However , we will if the turf continues to get wore down .
We have applied all of our fall pre-emergent chemicals helping us get started on having weed free golf courses . We will continue with our second application in January .
We have also started spraying fairways with nutrients and pigment helping to keep them growing . This will give us some good color and definition through the winter months .
We still have a couple of aqua tees to open up . Those should be complete by the end of the year . We also painted all of tee markers and yardage stones helping to brighten them up .
The tees were over seeded with perennial rye grass and are coming in nicely . We will try and keep them nice through the winter by fertilizing , filling divots and adding additional seed as needed . We also seeded the driving range tee on November 18th and it is beginning to grow in .
We will begin applying pigment to the greens by the end of the month . This will give the greens a nice color and help the turf stay warmer . We will continue to feed the greens bi-weekly with fertility and minor trace elements .
Once again , we hope you have a great and healthy holiday season , we look forward to a great year in 2022 !
Best Regards ,

Jimmie Murphy
