What ’ s Happening From Heidi …
Happy Holidays from my desk !
Well , then , we have made it to the last month of 2020 . How are you holding up ? Doing ok ? Are you taking a minute or two to just breathe ? I myself had to take a few minutes and just close my eyes and breathe . It was difficult , honestly , hard even , to just stop and focus on that in and out of air . I sighed deeply and my mind started to wonder about all the good things that we here at the Depot have accomplished up to this point .
Looking back at November , we started with the Open Air Market … this being the first time that the Chamber has ever done anything like this . We had to learn the art of scheduling and meeting the demands of all of the vendors involved . A new marketing plan had to be established and getting the word out was important to us . We feel we did a pretty good job but , we also learned a lot of valuable lessons in order to make it more successful next year .
We moved ahead with the opening of KrisKindlmarkt . New this year to the market is the fact that the Sparta Rotary Club has teamed up with the Sparta Area Chamber of Commerce to help coordinate and plan this three-weekend event . An open grill was added , chili , some fire pits , and of course , music . After many hiccups and stress , it all came together in the end and we couldn ’ t have asked for a better opening weekend ! I am truly humbled by our team and all of the community members who step up to help make the holidays , that help make Sparta , a better place to live , work , and visit . I have been told that we are doing some great things , so why not capitalize on that ? The whole time that I have been here I find myself asking myself what it is that I can do different or better . I am looking forward to ending December on a high note and I hope that most of you are with me .
