As 2020 is winding down , our history books will have several chapters reserved for our battle with COVID 19 . One thing for sure in my history book of memories is all of our hard working staff here on our campus of Morrow Home Community . First hand I witnessed many individuals encounter endless hours of work while working several days in a row to care for all of our residents . They are the true heroes of 2020 . The vaccine for this horrific virus cannot come soon enough . We here at Morrow Home want the best for all those we care for on our campus and all of our future individuals in our community who may need our care . For the past 80 years , our Homestead building has stood tall , been a landmark of our community and has served us well . As all buildings age in time , it reaches a point where repairs outweigh a new and modern building to care for the next generation . As you drive by our campus from Water Street , you can see the structure of our new assisted living consisting of 36 apartments of which 7 are two bedrooms and the remaining apartments being spacious one bedroom apartments . Alongside of our new assisted living building will be our new chapel and 15 bed rehab unit for our nursing home with private dining and many more modern features to care for our short term stay rehab residents . Completion of our project is planned for late summer of 2021 with demolition of Homestead building to follow along with the west wing first and second floor of our nursing home . The history of Mary Morrow will live on in our new modern building that will better serve our community for years to come . I am pleased to say we have completed the renovation of our second floor nurses station , living room and dayroom . Currently we are in the process of renovating our first floor nurses station and therapy kitchenette . All of this is made possible with the generosity of many individuals contributing to our previous annual Christmas Appeal . Thank you for all your giving generosity . As Christmas brings this year to a close and a new year begins please take the time to give thanks for all the great things we have been blessed with in our lives . Even through all the challenges we endured in 2020 , it is important to keep in mind the gifts that surround us every day . Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the Morrow Home Family , Dan Meyer CEO
