Songwriter & Musician

What did you do musically through lockdown ?

SURAJ MANI

Did you release new music ?
A lot ! During the pandemic / lockdown , I released I ' m Fine , Rinse and Repeat , Sacred Ground , La Petite Mort , Samsara and now Ignoring Gravity . Also wrote and composed new songs like Half A Whole Drop , Ephemeral , Caveman to Connoisseur , Angel ' s Got A Lover and Consummate Dancer .
3 songs of other artists that got you through lockdown and why you choose these particular songs .
Well music has been playing all the time . Got into Spotify and everyone I like and love is there . And I like the playlists . So , I would say that all kinds of musicians got me through this period . It would have been exponentially terrible without them .
What would be your tip / advise to the young musicians who ’ ve emerged during the pandemic situation ?
During the pandemic , a lot of people went through stress because people thought they controlled a lot more than they actually did . And to find out otherwise was crushing . If you are an artist or musician in this country it ' s most likely that you have already lived too long with that feeling . Here ' s a thought : Focus on what you can control . It ' s an eternal lesson .
How do you think the music scene can recover from the pandemic hit ?
Anyone who pays for music consumption is the only answer . If you consume music and pay nothing for it , please change your mind about that . It ' s the one thing that can help the musician . And helping the musician is critical to helping the industry .
What can we look forward to from you now ?
New songs . Lots and lots of new songs . I hope you really enjoy them . That would make me happy . Smiles .
