Another year has passed and when we
look back at 2019, the wacky golf car
stories didn’t disappoint. The golf car
culture we all know and love goes a bit off
the rails at times and you can bet I will be
there to talk about it in my yearly wrap
up. We have a lot to cover, so let’s dive
right in.
The Beloved Villages, Florida
It seems that the Villages wins the prize
for the golf car community that is in the
news the most. A retirement community
with more than 120,000 residents and
60,000 golf cars, there is always some-
thing wacky going on there. Residents
who gave up their actual Corvettes to live

was arrested while driving his golf car. He was
driving on the street and was found to be three
time over the legal alcohol limit. As if he wanted
to relive his college years, the man was found
with five bottles of Fireball in the golf car. How
did he not learn in his 20s that nights that in-
volve Fireball never end well?
The U.S. Open Was Exciting
In June, as the 119th U.S. Open kicked off at
Pebble Beach Golf Links, a runaway golf car
sped through the venue. Unfortunately, five
people were injured bear the 16th hole. How
could this happen? The golf car was loaded with
boxes to be delivered to a nearby concession
stand. When the driver left the golf car unat-
tended for a moment, one of the boxes fell onto
the accelerator and wackiness ensued.
Golf Cars on Fire

ies and chargers occasionally explode and catch
