HELPING Indiana Grand Hosts Annual ‘Slots of Toys’ to Benefit Shelby County Children in Need I n the spirit of the holiday season, Indiana Grand Racing and Casino has officially kicked off its Slots of Toys promotion to benefit the Shelby County U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program. Guests 21 and older are encouraged to donate a new children’s toy every Sunday through Wednesday until December 13. In return, they will receive $10 in free slot play as a thank you for the contribution. Indiana Grand guests can make Slots of Toys donations directly at Club Centaur Rewards in the casino, once per day from 6:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. Toys must be new, unwrapped and have a minim um value of $10. All toys collected will directly benefit children in Shelby County. “We are honored to partner with the Shelby County Toys for Tots program to help make a difference in the lives of children throughout our county,” said Elena Lisle, Indiana Grand’s marketing director. “Receiving a toy through these collective efforts sends a message of hope to children in need. That’s important and we’re proud to be a part of it.” The 2017 holiday season marks the fourth year that Indiana Grand has partnered with Toys for Tots of Shelby County, and the third year that guests are able to directly donate toys through a casino promotion. In 2014, Indiana Grand guests brought in more than 700 toys serving 269 children in Shelby County. The number of children receiving toys increased to 469 in 2015 and 555 in 2016. “We would not be able to provide for children throughout our county without the help of Indiana Grand Racing and Casino, their customers, our local businesses, clubs, organizations and Shelby County residents,” said Bonnie Lynn Moore, Shelby County’s Toys for Tots coordinator. “Through everyone’s generosity, our program brought hope to less-fortunate children and their parents in our community. Being a part of this program has been a blessing to my husband and myself, but it would not be possible without our community helping us help others.” Shelby County families may register for the Toys for Tots program by picking up an application at the Human Services office at 825 Elm Street in Shelbyville.
