Linda Williams LINDA WILLIAMS GROVETON–Linda Arlene (Cote) Williams, 56, of Second Street, Groveton died peacefully on Dec. 13, 2016 at Country Village-Genesis Elder Care Center in Lancaster with her loving family by her side. Linda was born in Groveton on Nov. 9, 1960 to Andrew and Lena (Fountain) Cote and was a lifelong resident of Groveton until moving into Country Village in October of this year. Linda worked as a house keeper at the Beacon Motel in Lincoln until taking ill. She loved picnicking, fishing, taking walks, swimming and word search puzzles. She was very soft spoken; generous and caring. Linda is survived by her father Andrew “Red” Cote and Janice “Niecie” Hopps of Groveton; daughter Tiffany Williams and husband Christopher Joyce of Groveton; grandson Noe` Joyce; four siblings Susie Johnston and Earl Alexander of Groveton; Brenda Boutin and husband Ken of Groveton; Wayne Cote of Lancaster; Sandra Boudle and Victor of Groveton; one sister-in-law Theresa Cote; aunt and uncle Theresa and Lester Brooks of Clarksville; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and her cat Aquillus. She was predeceased by her mother Lena Cote Sept. 29, 2000 and her husband Fredrick Williams in June 2012. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016 at 1 p.m. at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton with Pastor Richard Boyden of the Christ United Methodist Church, Lancaster, officiating. CLEMENT KNOWLTON KEENE–Clement E. “Clem” Knowlton, 97 years old, formally of Groveton and North Stratford passed away on Dec. 10, 2016 at the Genesis Health Center in Keene. He was born in Magog, Que. on Nov. 9, 1919 to Orrin and Marion (Sullivan) Knowlton and lived much of his life in Groveton. Clement attended school in Groveton and graduated in 1937. During WWII Clement served his country in the United States Navy on board the aircraft carrier USS Essex. After his Naval experiences “Clem” returned to Groveton working at the Groveton Paper Company for 30 years. He also spent many years at Tillotson Rubber Company and the Balsam Hotel in Dixville. He also spent years operating his own consulting business. On July 31, 1941 in North Stratford he married Eva Frizzell, his wonderful wife of 71. Eva passed away on Dec. 23, 2012. “Clem” is survived by his three sons; Arnold and his wife Lorraine of Westminster, Vt.; Roger and his wife Sandi of Mesa, Arizona and Stephen and his wife Nancy of Jerome, Arizona as well as numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren and even great-great-grandchildren. Wright, 73, formally of Groveton and Lancaster, died peacefully on Dec. 14, 2016 at Coos County Nursing Home in Berlin where he had been a resident for the past few years. He was born on Nov. 9, 1943 in Hardwick, Vt. to Ernest B. and Catherine M. (Eldred) Wright, he moved to Groveton as a young child and live in the Groveton/Lancaster area most of his life. Over the years he worked for CB Cummings Birch Mill and as a farmer. He loved cats; country music and to make people laugh and have a good time. Ken is survived by his three sons, Donald Wright of Colebrook; John Wright of Indiana; and Robert Wright of Elgin, South Carolina; one granddaughter, Lacie Smith and two grandsons, Dylan Smith and Hunter Gaudette; one brother, Stanley Wright of North Stratford; one niece, Cathy Wright Roby of Northumberland and several cousins. He was predeceased by his father in 1982; his mother in 1985; his wife Betty (Potter) Wright in 2012; and half brother Bernard Maynard. Dupont, 88, of Canaan, Vt., di ed on Thursday afternoon, Dec. 15, 2016, at the Coos County Nursing Hospital in West Stewartstown following a prolonged illness. He was born March 19, 1928, in Ste. Herménègilde, Que., the son of the late Charles-Emile and Annabelle (Langevin) Dupont. He attended the local schools in Canada. On Oct. 27, 1952, he married Gilberte Ouimette in Dixville, Que., and they moved to the U.S. a few years later, settling in Canaan. Roland was a successful businessman with ventures that included logging, real estate and Christmas tree farming. His passion was hunting, and he also enjoyed watching hockey, always cheering the Montreal Canadiens; however, time spent with his family, especially his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was most important to him. He leaves behind his loving wife of 64 years, Gilberte Dupont, of Canaan; a son, Alain Dupont of Essex, Vt.; and two daughters, Linda Pryor and her husband Lawrence of Canaan, and Marlene Cloutier and her husband Norman of Columbia; four grandsons, Jacques Cloutier and his wife Nicole of Anchorage, AK, David Cloutier and his wife Melissa of Columbia, Dominic Gilbert of Colebrook, and Reno Gilbert and his fiancée Kailin Belanger of Columbia; six greatgrandchildren, Cheyenee Cloutier, Gavin Gilbert, Chelsea Gilbert, Philippe Cloutier, Evan Gilbert and Eloise Cloutier; five sisters, Therese Bergeron, Madeleine Fillion, Pauline Hebert, Rollande Dupont, Jacqueline Veilleux; a brother, Ovila Dupont, all of Canada; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers and sisters-in-law. Roland is predeceased by two sisters, Jeannette and Alice, and three brothers, Wilfrid, JeanPaul, and Robert. Friends may call at the Jenkins and Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook on Monday, Dec. 19, 2016, from 2 to 5 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place the next morning Tues., Dec. 20, at 11 a.m. at St. Brendan’s Catholic Church in Colebrook, with The Rev. Craig Cheney as celebrant. Burial will immediately follow in the Canaan Village Cemetery. The Dupont family wishes to express their sincere thanks for the outstanding care Roland received from the devoted nurses, LNAs, and LPNs and all the staff at the Coos County Nursing Hospital while a resident there.
