Menlyn Marvel e-CAR member Menlyn Motor Services is a pioneering automotive services workshop that has been at the forefront of automotive servicing in Menlyn, Pretoria, since 1989. We spoke to owner Koos Booysen to find out what makes the business tick. ➲ The business forms an integral part of a larger motor city in Menlyn, Pretoria I n the early days, the business had CV joint servicing and windscreen replacement at the top of its agenda. This proved highly beneficial, and gave the business a strong foothold in the area. Both of these services are still performed today, making Koos’ vision of a one-stopservice-shop an everyday reality. “At the time there weren’t many independent workshops in the region,” he explains. “We saw an opportunity and we took it.” Koos says he joined the e-CAR network in 2007 when the workshop concept was first introduced to him. “I liked the concept immediately due to its emphasis on training, which I believe is the best available to technician’s in the aftermarket,” he says. ➲ Koos is a big fan of the training offered by Bosch “Bosch training gives the business a good grounding and the effects rub-off on all aspects of the business, including staff morale,” he enthuses. ➲ Sectional managers Johan du Preez, Ryan Naude, Hennie Potgieter with owner Koos Booysen In 2015 Koos says he plans on sending his 25 strong staff complement to 12 training courses throughout the year, such is his admiration of the courses offered by Bosch. “Training your staff does not only increase efficiency and productivity levels, it also positively influences output, decreases staff absenteeism and gives our customers a feeling of confidence. This is extremely important to the business as most of our clients are repeat customers, and we benefit from positive referrals and word-ofmouth endorsements.
