or Zoom ! This is a team effort , designed so that our efforts towards preparedness and safety carry on no matter who is present here at home . Here are some current skills or interests that would fill some important volunteer opportunities :
� Communications : Our radio network is vital to our work . Volunteers would help with training , oversight of inventory , operations of the base station
� Medically-trained residents : Communicate with our doctors , nurses , pharmacists , physical therapists , etc . Help monitor CPR , AED , First-Aid classes and other health events . Help oversee emergency medical supplies stored at the Activity Center
� HOA Captains Network : Help with oversight of our 130-plus volunteers , updating them on committee activities , offering support and getting their input . Encourage participation and the recruitment of captains
� Community Safety : Assist in the

Christmas gifts of preparedness
Since joining the EPPS Committee , I ’ ve been paying more attention to purchasing items for my home that have
been critical to Cathi and me being safe and comfortable during a power outage , often accompanied with some other winter disaster ( floods , wind , ice , snow ). Because we have been prepared , we have also been able to help our neighbors who were less fortunate .
This experience has led me to include a couple of EPPS items among the Christmas gifts to our children in Colorado . What a surprise they get when they open a present from me and find things like a waterproof flashlight , plug-in emergency lights , Red Cross Emergency NOAA radio or first aid kits .
OK , so at first they were a little curious and suspected that old age was setting in . But when they experienced the next power outage ( they live in the high mountains of Colorado ) they came to realize the wisdom of their father . I recommend this gifting approach to all my friends in Charbonneau - check out some of the items listed on the Charbonneau Country Club website at www . charbonneaucountryclub . com under the menu item “ Staying Safe ,” such as the twinbucket emergency toilet . Yes , it will definitely be a surprise gift under the Christmas tree .
